Barry Atkinson the most generous, kind and loveable cousin I could ever have had.  So much fun and it all began when we were children holidaying at our Grandma’s bungalow at Skinburness near Silloth on the Solway Firth.  Carefree days, swimming and enjoying fun in the sand dunes, pretending to be pirates.

It was wonderful when Barry met Miriam and they were so kind always inviting me for dinner and choosing a diamond in their kitchen for my engagement ring at Cammock Crescent, Carlisle.

They moved to Leyland and we moved to South East Asia and were lucky to have them visit us in Singapore, lots of fun, dinners and an occasional drink!! We all flew to the island of Langkawi in Malaysia for a four day break. Lovely, hotel, wonderful staff, white sandy beach and lapping waves, paradise until it was 3pm and time for the pool boy to bring a skewer of tropical fruits and ice cold towels.  Someone thought it was fun to drop it on my face, I screamed so loudly the whole beach thought someone had been murdered - “he” nearly was.

Douglas and I have so many memories, just like people who are there today of a fun loving, mischievous and never to be forgotten person. We will miss you but you will always be in our hearts and we will have many memories of an incredible man, husband, father and grandfather.
